- कार्बन के अपररूप :- किसी तत्वा के दो या दो से अधिक रूप जिनके भौतिक गुण भिन्न हो लेकिन रसैनिकता गुण सामान हो अपररूप कहलाते है |
- क्रिस्टलीय अपररूप:- इस अवस्था में C के परमाणु आपस में जुड़कर एक निश्चित आकृति का निर्माण करते है|
- हीरा:- यह पृथ्वी पर पाया जाने वाला सबसे कठोर पदार्थ है | इसमें प्रत्येक C परमाणु अन्य 4 परमाणुओं से जुड़े होते है | यह विद्युत का संचालक नहीं है| हीरे का गलनांक 3843K होता है| पृकृति में हीरा किम्बर्लीटे पदार्थ के रूप में पाया जाता है| हीरा कार्बन का अतिशुद्ध रूप है|
- ग्रेफाइट :- इस अपररूप में कार्बन का प्रत्येक परमाणु 3 अन्य परमाणुओं से मिलकर षट्कोणीय वलयो का निर्माण करते है|
- फुलरीन :- कार्बन में 60-70 या उससे ज्यादा भी परमाणु पाए जाते है| फुलरीन की संरचना फुटबॉल क सामान होती है तथा इसे बाकिबल भी कहते है | फुलरीन की आकृति अमेरिकी वास्तुकार बकमिनिस्टर क द्वारा बनाए गए गुम्बद क सामान है| इसलिए इसे बकमिनिस्टर फुल्लेरेन्स भी कहते है|
- ग्राफीन:- ग्राफीन की खोज १९६२ इ में पीटर बोहम द्वारा की गई थी | यह एक अच्छी छलकता वाला पदार्थ है|
- कार्बन नैनो ट्यूब:- कार्बन का नवीनतम अपररूप है जो लोहे से लगभग 100 गुना मजबूत होता है| यह स्टील से भी ज्यादा लचीला अपररूप है| वैश्विक मानकों के अभाव तथा काम औद्योगिक उत्पादन की वजह से इनका उपयोग सीमित है|
- अक्रिस्टलीय अपररूप:- जब तत्वा के विभिन्न परमाणु आपस में जुड़कर किसी निश्चित आकृति का निर्माण नहीं करते तोह वह अक्रिस्टलीय अपररूप कहलाता है|
- काजल:- यह कार्बन का शुद्ध रूप है जिसमे ९५% कार्बन पाया जाता है| इसका उपयोग:- आखो के काजल में, जूतों की पोलिश में इत्यादि काम लिया जाता है|
- कोयला:- प्रकृति में 4 प्रकार का कोयला पाया जाता है| जिसे कार्बन की प्रतिशतता के आधार पर वर्गिक किया गया है|
- कोक:- जब कोयले को O2 की अनुपस्तिथि में ताप पर गर्म किया जाता है तो कोक प्राप्त होता है|
- चारकोल:- जब लकड़ी को O2 की अनुपस्तिथि में उच्च ताप पर गर्म किया जाता है तो हमें कष्ट चारकोल प्राप्त होता है| उपयोग:- जल की शोधन क्रिया में| वातानुकूलन प्रणाली में गंध को नियंत्रित करने में | विस्फोटक बनाने में|
