About Bank Exams

 

Each year, multiple exams are conducted to the recruiting of Bank PO, Bank Clerk & Specialist Officers. Broadly, these examinations can be classified into the following Groups –

 

IBPS PO:- It is a common examination conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for 20 PSU Banks for its recruitment of Probationary Officers. IBPS Clerk: It is a Frequent examination conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for 20 PSU Banks for the recruitment of Clerical Cadres.

 

IBPS Specialist Officers (IBPS SO):- It’s a common examination conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for 20 PSU Banks for the recruitment of Specialist Officers such as Marketing Officer, IT Officer, HR Officer, etc..

 

SBI Probationary Officer:-  State Bank of India conducts its own exam for its recruiting of Probationary Officers.

 

SBI Clerk:- State Bank of India conducts its own exam for its recruiting of Clerical Cadres.

 

RBI Grade B Exam: Reserve Bank of India recruits officers (Grade B) via an All India examination. Though there are very few tasks in this, however, working with RBI has its own advantages and potential prospects.

 

RBI Assistants Exam: RBI recruits Clerical Cadres via an All India examination. Again, a job in RBI is considered very prestigious.

 

Bank Exams Pattern

 

Recruitment in government banks is generally achieved in a three-stage recruitment process. To begin with, two stages are written evaluation, which can be called Pre and Main; and the last stage is the interview procedure. Shortlisting of applicants is done at each stage — Pre, Main, and Interview.

 

Final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks in Mains and Interview (pounds: 80% Written Test & 20% Interview).

 

Bank Exams Syllabus

 

Written tests in bank exams generally ask questions to check the General Aptitude of the candidates. In Prelims, 100 queries are asked from three distinct sections —

Quantitative Aptitude (35 Questions)

Reasoning Ability (35 Questions)

English Language (30).

While in the Mains exams, 200 questions are asked covering Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, English Language, General Awareness and Basic Computer Knowledge.

Number Systems, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage & Averages, Profit & Loss, Mixtures &Alligations, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Surds & Indices, Time & Distance, Mensuration — Cylinder, Cone, Sphere, Sequence & Series, Permutation Combination & Probability, Quadratic Equations, Data Interpretation.

 

Reasoning Ability

Sitting Arrangements, Logical Reasoning, Data Sufficiency,  Syllogism, Input-Output, Coding-Decoding, Alphanumeric Series, Ranking / Direction / Alphabet Test, Coded Inequalities,  Tabulation, Non-Verbal Reasoning.

 

English Language

Reading Comprehension,  Sentence Correction, Para Jumbles, Vocabulary,  Error Spotting, Multiple Meaning Words, Cloze Test, Paragraph Completion and New Pattern Questions of various types.

 

Computer

Number System, History of Computers, Hardware, Software, Database (Introduction), Communication (Fundamental Introduction), Media (Lan, Wan), Internet (Concept, History, Working Environment, Application), Security Tools, Virus, Hacker, MS Windows & MS Office, Logic Gates.

 

Current Affairs
